With Tropical Storm Debby affecting the Myrtle Beach area with wind and rain, retail shopping areas catering to tourists and locals may be impacted due to the weather.

Some local businesses have closed in response to the storm, and Debby is also impacting two of the Grand Strand’s biggest tourist attractions. Myrtle Beach’s Broadway at the Beach and North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing each issued statements on their Facebook pages on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024.

Broadway at the Beach announced yesterday in its Facebook post that the weather canceled its fireworks display due to the storm; however, shops would stay open at each’s discretion, although hours of operation may vary from store to store. Barefoot Landing also announced via Facebook that stores would stay open at the operator’s discretion and that hours of business would vary for each.

Both sites are owned by real estate investment firm Burroughs & Chapin.
