Where to find sand bags in Myrtle Beach, SC area before Tropical Storm Debby arrives

If gathering sand bags are part of your Tropical Storm Debby preparations, here’s where to find them on Monday.

There are various stations where people can fill their own bags or pay for already filled bags of sand. It is illegal to take sand from the beach in Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach will be handing out sand between the City Services building, 921 North Oak St., and the Myrtle Beach Train Depot, 851 Broadway St. The city will provide bags and some shovels but encourage people to bring their own shovels.

Arnold’s Pools, 1390 Cannon Road, is selling pre-filled sand bags for $15 cash.

North Myrtle Beach

The city of North Myrtle Beach will have a sand station next to the City’s Sanitation Center, 1st Avenue South. There will not be sand bags provided, but they can be bought in packs of 25 at some stores, including Boulineau’s, Vereen’s, Windy Hill Hardware, Home Depot, and Lowes.

Conway

Conway has sand and sand bags available at 710 Freeman Drive for Conway residents. They are able to fill the bags and bring them back to their residences.

Outside Conway, Grey Shore Contracting, 990 Highway 90, will have free sand and sand bags at its lot. The contracting business will also sell pre-filled sand bags, offer delivery and set-up.

Surfside Beach

The city of Surfside Beach has free sand at Martin Field, 601 Dogwood Drive South, near 6th Avenue. People must bring sand bags and shovels.

Loris

Sand and sand bags are available on a first-come-first-serve basis starting at 3 p.m. Monday at the Loris Recreation Center, 311 Heritage Road.

Georgetown

Georgetown County is handing out sand bags at the old City Hall, 120 North Fraser St., until supplies run out. Some shovels are available.
