Man accused of 2017 murder remains in Horry County jail after bond was denied
A man accused of a three-year-old murder will remain behind bars after he waived his initial court appearance.
Sheprell Strickland, 30, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder in connection to the shooting of Jahi Mishoe, a 22-year old South Carolina State University student, in 2017.
Strickland was the fourth person arrested for the murder after evading cops for almost three years.
He waived his initial appearance in a Horry County court on Wednesday morning. His bond would have been denied at the hearing because only a circuit court judge has the power to set bond on a murder charge.
The shooting happened Dec. 3 on the 1700 block of Willow Road in the Conway area, near S.C. 544. When officers arrived, they found Mishoe dead from a gunshot.
The cases against Ces’swaun Lamar Simmons, 24, of Conway; Joshua Dashawn Spain, 27, of Surfside Beach, and Rayquan Tyrone Bennett, 21, of Bucksport, all remain active.
Spain was recently arrested and accused of a string of drive-by shootings in the Conway area. He was on bond for the accused murder when he allegedly participated in the drive-by shootings.
Correction: An earlier version of this stated he was in court on Wednesday.
