Fourth person arrested in connection to 2017 Horry County murder

After nearly three years on the lam, Horry County police arrested a man in connection to a 2017 murder.

Officers from Horry County and the U.S. Marshals Carolina Regional Task Force arrested Sheprell Raquail Strickland, 30, in the Conway area Tuesday. He was charged with murder and is being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center as bond has not been set.

Strickland is the fourth person arrested in connection to the murder of Jahi Mishoe, 22. He faces life in prison if convicted.

The shooting happened Dec. 3 on the 1700 block of Willow Road in the Conway area, near S.C. 544. When officers arrived, they found Mishoe dead from a gunshot.

Mishoe studied electrical engineering at South Carolina State University and worked for a manufacturing company, his stepfather Thomas Johnson previously told The Sun News.

Three people were previously arrested and charged with murder in the case. The cases against Ces’swaun Lamar Simmons, 24, of Conway; Joshua Dashawn Spain, 27, of Surfside Beach, and Rayquan Tyrone Bennett, 21, of Bucksport, all remain active.

Spain was recently arrested and accused of a string of drive-by shootings in the Conway area. He was on bond for the accused murder when he allegedly participated in the drive-by shootings.
