‘Oh my God, what did you just do?’ Witness threatened for sharing SC shooting clip

Khadijah Hemingway thought she was providing closure to Paul Greenwood’s family when she posted video of what happened the day a vehicle accident turned into a deadly road rage incident.

But instead, Hemingway claims she is receiving death threats from the friends and family of Greenwood and accusations that she could’ve done more that day to stop the shooting.

“I thought I was doing the right thing by giving them closure,” Hemingway said. Hemingway said she is grateful that she did record the incident so police could see what happened.

There are currently more than 1,300 comments on her Facebook page, more than 1.5 million shares, and 3.5 million views on some of the videos.

One of the videos shows the moments before the heated exchange between Greenwood and Elijaih Thurman Taylor on Tuesday turned deadly, as Taylor pulls a gun from his waistband and fires about four to five shots at Greenwood. Greenwood, 33, of Nichols, died at the scene.

The argument began after Greenwood, driving a white pickup truck, allegedly crashed into two other vehicles along Highway 90 near Star Bluff Road in the Longs area. Taylor and Hemingway’s vehicles were hit. Greenwood and Taylor, who was driving a Honda Civic, became involved in a heated argument which, led to the shooting, Hemingway said.

After Taylor fired his gun, Hemingway screamed, “Oh my God, what did you just do?” she said. Taylor then “tossed the gun” and called police.

“I went over to him,” Hemingway said of Greenwood. “I knew he was deceased.”

Taylor stood by Hemingway until police arrived, she said.

“I was terrified,” Hemingway said. “I have never seen anything like that in my life.”

Hemingway said the men had been threatening each other. On the videos, the two men can be heard telling each other to get out of one another’s faces and making threats to each other. Hemingway can also be heard trying to calm the two men down.

Taylor allegedly shot Greenwood several times with a pistol, which was caught on video, according to his arrest warrants.

Taylor, 23, of North Carolina, was arrested by Horry County Police and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The shooting closed the highway down for about five hours as police investigated.

Hemingway said it took police nearly 45 minutes before they arrived on the scene even though she called 911 as soon as the accident happened about 7:30 a.m. that morning.

“If they would have gotten there sooner, it maybe wouldn’t have happened. They gave it too much time,” she said.

Hemingway wasn’t the only one on the scene, or the only one recording, she said. There were people across the street, and they never came to help, she said. “I’m the only who did,” Hemingway said.

The situation reminded her of when her 15-year-old brother was killed in a car accident in the same neighborhood two years ago.

“Everyone left him,” Hemingway said. “We still don’t know what happened.

“I’m hoping to get the family justice.”
