The G Spot Arcade Bar and Grill, now known as the Dreams Eatery, is being sued by a patron after she was shot at the bar on Jan. 1, 2023.

Shatara Soles, of Horry County, is suing the G Spot, owner Lenora Hemingway Livingston, Brickwall Squad Bouncers and five unknown men involved in the deadly shooting for negligence and liability. Soles filed the suit on Oct. 4, 2024.

The Sun News contacted the defendants, including the bar, for a request to comment but did not hear back before publication.

It is unknown if anyone has been arrested in the case. It appears the shooter remains unnamed.

On New Year’s Day in 2023, Soles was at the G Spot, 8190 S.C. 90, when a man came into the bar with a gun and opened fire around 3 a.m.

Emanuel Melvin, 22, died, and two people, including Soles, were seriously injured, The Sun News reported.

Soles is suing for negligence claiming the bar and bouncers failed to keep the bar safe. Her right hip was hurt, and since the shooting, it’s been difficult to live normally, the lawsuit states. She’s also dealt with trauma and pain from the event.

For damages, Soles is requesting judgment decided by the court.

This suit follows a lawsuit filed last year by Melvin’s mother against the bar and Livingston in her son’s death.

Melvin was found by officers lying on his back near the bar door with gunshot wounds, an incident report states.

This is not the G Spot’s first run-in with violence. Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson has previously filed to declare the bar a public nuisance.

The bar’s name was later changed to Dreams Eatery.
