New retailer, coffee shop could be coming to Myrtle Beach’s Broadway at the Beach
Following a recent string of closures at Broadway at the Beach, the tourist destination could soon be welcoming two new businesses for guests to enjoy.
Broadway at the Beach Spokesperson Jay Rodriguez said an “outdoor apparel concept” along with a coffee shop will be filling vacancies created by similar businesses before it.
While Rodriquez didn’t provide further details, plans submitted to Myrtle Beach in December call for Quiet Storm Coastal Outfitters, a Maryland-based fishing outfitter shop with a location at Barefoot Landing, to open in the building that formerly housed apparel store Tsunami Surf Shop, which closed Dec. 31 after 10 years in operation at Broadway at the Beach.
The Social Club, an apparent coffee shop, will open in the former Starbucks location, according to city permits.
An opening date was not provided for either business, with Rodriguez noting that “so much can change.”
The new businesses will join iScream Candy, a candy and ice cream shop, which also has plans to open at the popular Myrtle Beach destination this spring, according to the store’s website. Rodriguez previously confirmed the new storefront will open in the building that formerly housed Chuck & Duck’s Sports Grill, which closed in September.
Even more change is expected now that after a major portion of the Broadway at the Beach property is under construction after the movie theater and several attractions were torn down.
The former theater location will soon transform into an Alabama-based seafood restaurant The Hangout. The area will also be home to new Key West retail and office buildings, according to city records.
Additionally, a new bridge is being built near the WonderWorks attraction. The site is currently blocked off for construction.
The recent news comes after several closures were announced at Broadway at the Beach.
Key West Grill has officially closed after 25 years in operation, with Liberty Tap Room also closing. Additionally, Yankee Candle shut its doors this month, leaving another vacant storefront behind.
