Another store closes its doors at Myrtle Beach’s Broadway at the Beach
Broadway at the Beach is putting the “new year, new me” motto into action as another popular storefront closes its doors for good.
Following a week of closure announcements at the popular Myrtle Beach destination, apparel store Tsunami Surf Shop closed its doors on Dec. 31 after 10 years in operation at Broadway at the Beach. The Carolina-based retailer is known for selling surf and lifestyle-related items, including gear, apparel and beach accessories.
“As we begin 2020 and enter Broadway at the Beach’s 25th year of operation, it is only natural for some changes to occur as leases expire,” Broadway Spokesperson Jay Rodriguez said. “We are always working to bring new and exciting experiences for our guests to enjoy and look forward to sharing updates.”
It was announced last Thursday that Key West Grill will also close after 25 years in operation, as would Yankee Candle. In addition, Liberty Tap Room announced last month its Broadway at the Beach location would also close.
However, with closure comes change.
While a new bridge is being built near the WonderWorks attraction, a major portion of the Broadway at the Beach property is currently under construction after the movie theater was torn down last year. The former theater location will soon house Alabama-based seafood restaurant The Hangout, which will also serve as an events space within the destination.
Additionally, city records show applications for new Key West retail and office buildings.
