Styled an "event series," Fox's "Shots Fired" seems to want to get to something big about Who We Are As a People - to engage, like ABC's "American Crime" or FX's "American Crime Story," with big ideas about race and class and justice. Burning of the Socks

Georgetown residents burn their socks, an annual tradition that symbolizes the start of boating season. Bob Turner, now a Pawley's Island resident, claims to have started the Burning of the Socks festival in 1978 in Annapolis, Md. Five years ago, Johnny Weaver started the tradition in Georgetown to help raise funds for the South Carolina Maritime Museum.
