The Socastee boys tennis team has made the most of its first year back in Class AAAA.
The Braves defeated West Florence 5-2 on Tuesday night to win Region VI-AAAA, halting the Knights’ 13-year run atop the league.

David Small said he had this one marked on the calendar three months ago.
His North Myrtle Beach boys golf team made good on its marquee match against Myrtle Beach on Tuesday at Eagle Nest Golf Club, beating the Seahawks by a pair of strokes.
“We knew it was going to be a good match and they knew it was going to be a good match,” said Small, whose team shot 156.
The Chiefs rallied down the stretch to beat their Region VII-AAA rival in their first head-to-head meeting this season.
“I think with about two holes to go we were probably about four or five shots back,” Small said. “We made a couple birdies coming in and that helped a lot.”
