Election day is less than a month away, and this year Myrtle Beach voters will decide between five mayoral candidates and 10 City Council candidates for three councilmember spots.

This year election day falls on Tuesday, Nov. 4, but voters can also hit the polls early from Monday, Oct., 20 through Friday, Oct. 31.

Voters can read the mayoral candidates answers to The Sun News’s questionnaire here and the City Council hopefuls’ answers here. But for residents interested in hearing live from the candidates, there are several candidate events open to the public around Myrtle Beach this month.

Meet the Candidates

When: Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Horry Georgetown Technical College Conference Center Thomas Maeser Auditorium at 950 Crabtree Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

What: Like every election season, this year the NAACP Myrtle Beach Branch will hold a Meet the Candidates events where community members can hear directly from candidates. All 15 mayoral and City Council candidates have been invited to participate.

Six Questions Mayoral Debate and City Council Candidates Forum

When: Monday, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center Ballroom at 800 Gabreski Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

What: The Market Common Civic Organization and the Grande Dunes Sub-Associations will host a forum with City Council candidates followed by a debate for mayoral candidates. The event, which is open to the public, will be moderated by longtime News 13 anchor Bob Juback.

Candidates Forum

When: Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Mary C. Canty Recreation Center at 971 Canal St., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

What: Former NAACP Myrtle Beach Branch President Mickey James will also host a candidate forum this election cycle. The event will kick off with a mayoral forum from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a City Council forum from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
