We asked for highest paid Surfside Beach employees. How pay compares to other towns

The Town of Surfside Beach spends just under $1 million a year for their top 10 paid employees, a document obtained via the Freedom of Information Act shows.

In total, the top 10 highest earners for the town make $934,954.38.

North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach and Horry County all pay their top 10 earners a combined total of almost double what Surfside Beach does, previous reporting shows. Surfside Beach is also the only municipality out of the four that doesn’t pay anyone above $200,000.

According to town documents, here are Surfside Beach’s top 10 earners and what they make:

  • Gerald Vincent, Town Administrator, $144,750
  • John Adair, Director of Public Works, $103,247.86
  • Melanie Freeman-Gruber, Director of Finance, $98,000
  • David Nelson, Fire Chief, $95,500
  • Kenneth Davis, Police Chief, $93,000
  • Heather Davis, Planning and Zoning Director, $91,000
  • William Mickle, Police Captain, $86,000
  • Sheri Medina, Town Clerk, $78,391.54
  • Robert Pinto, Police Department, $72,532.49
  • Joshua Blair, Police Department, $72,532.49
