The Horry County Schools District is set to purchase two parcels of land, including a golf course, for more than $7 million.

Horry County Schools will purchase the Harbour View Golf Course property located on Horseshoe Road in Little River, as well as a 66.7-acre parcel of land off of Enoch Road in the area of upper Conway and lower Aynor, district spokesperson Lisa Bourcier confirmed to The Sun News via email on Tuesday.

Harbour View Golf Course confirmed it would be closing soon, but does not have a set date yet. The course declined to comment on why it pursued the sale of the property. For now, it remains open.

The acquisitions come as part of a district initiative to seek out property for future educational and operational facilities in Horry County, Bourcier explained. Board of Education leaders Melanie Wellons and David Cox did not immediately respond to requests for comment by The Sun News about plans for the land acquisitions on Wednesday.

How much will the property cost?

The property off of Horseshoe Road totals 36.78 acres, and will be purchased for just under $6 million, or $162,000 per acre. Plans for how the district will use the property have not yet been established, according to Bourcier.

The property currently houses a miniature golf course, a driving range, an 18-hole golf course and a foot golf course, where players kick soccer balls on a golf-like course.

The purchase of the property was approved unanimously at Monday night’s school board meeting.

In August 2025, the school board also approved the purchase of the Enoch Road property for about $1.4 million. Plans for this property have not been finalized yet, Bourcier said.

Rapid growth in Little River, upper Conway-lower Aynor areas

Both the Little River and upper Conway-lower Aynor areas are experiencing rapid growth in recent years, with hundreds of new homes and thousands of new residents coming as the years pass. In 2019, Little River’s population was approximately 39,000, with projections of a jump to 72,000 by 2040, according to Horry County Planning and Zoning and the Little River Chamber of Commerce.

In the upper Conway-lower Aynor region, one proposed project alone could bring more than 200 homes to land off of Brown Swamp Road. These homes would feed into Aynor’s schools, which are already facing overcrowding this school year, The Sun News previously reported.
