Horry County Police make arrest in deadly Carolina Forest hit-and-run
Horry County police arrested one of the men suspected of killing a pedestrian in a Carolina Forest neighborhood.
Michael Octavious Davis, 26, of Georgia, was arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run near Carolina Forest in September. Davis was charged with hit-and-run resulting in death and is being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Bond has not been set in case.
He faces up to 25 years in prison.
Horry County police and fire crews were called Sept. 5 at about 2 p.m. to Blackberry Lane in the Carolina Forest area for the reported incident.
Alexander Baum, a 30-year-old pedestrian, died in the crash, according to the Horry County Coroner’s office.
Police released suspect photos after the incident that showed three men. The photos were taken at the Speedway gas station near Longs. The vehicle of interest - a gray Dodge 1500 extended cab with a trailer that was loaded with pine straw - was also captured on video from around the county, police say.
Authorities continue to search for the other suspects in the case. Additional charges are possible.
