One dead after hit-and-run, Horry County police search for ‘vehicle of interest’

One person died in a hit-and-run in the Carolina Forest area Saturday.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Alexander Baum, 30. He died of traumatic injuries.

Horry County police and fire crews went to Blackberry Lane in the Carolina Forest Area around 2 p.m. for the reported incident. The victim was intentionally hit by a vehicle, according to police.

Police asked for the public’s help finding a vehicle of interest in the case. The vehicle of interest is a gray Dodge 1500 extended cab with a trailer that was loaded with pine straw, police say.

Authorities continue to investigate and anyone with information is asked to call 843-248-1520.
