One arrested in connection to shooting at Myrtle Beach bar
One person faces decades in prison after a shooting at a Myrtle Beach bar, according to arrest warrants.
Myrtle Beach police charged Elijah Edward Marcus, 40, with attempted murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was arrested on Monday.
On March 7, officers responded to Donny’s Saloon on 3rd Avenue South for a reported shooting.
There was a fight and Marcus tried to shoot the victim, according to an arrest warrant.
Attempted murder is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
The shooting is the latest in a string of high-profile incidents at the 3rd Avenue South bar.
- In August 2019, a fight broke out at the bar with a crowd of more than 40 people, according to police. Officers arrived to find bar security trying to stop groups from attacking each other.
- In March 2019, Myrtle Beach police investigated after one person was shot at the bar. The victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
- In May 2018, a brawl inside the bar spilled outside where a suspect fired several shots. Nobody was hurt in that incident, but a vehicle was shot twice.
