Man on bond arrested in connection to Horry County murder
A man who was free on bond was charged with murder in connection to a shooting in the Fremont Road area in Longs.
Horry County police charged Tylik Jervon Griffin, 20, of Longs, with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He remains in J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail. Griffin faces life in prison if convicted.
In October, Horry County police arrested Griffin and charged him with possession with intent to deliver drugs, according to court records. He was released on $7,500 bond, and his case remains active.
Griffin is the second person charged in the case as Horry County police accused Tyrell Vanquiz Harrison, 20, of Longs, of murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Officials say Tyrone Ford, also known as Tyrone Davis, was shot and killed on Jan. 3 in the 2000 block of Plantation Drive. Another person suffered life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the victims were shot inside a car.
Horry County police went to the Fremont Road area around 4 a.m. for the reported shooting. When officers arrived, several people were around the vehicle, according to a police report.
The two victims were in the front seats of the car, the report states. Both victims were covered in blood, and one of them was unresponsive.
Two witnesses said they were driving on Plantation Drive, and one of the victims flagged them down. The witnesses got out of their car, saw the injured people and called the police, according to the report.
