One arrested in connection to murder in the Freemont area
A 20-year-old is accused of killing one person and injuring another in a Freemont area shooting.
Horry County police charged Tyrell Vanquiz Harrison, 20, of Longs, with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He faces life in prison if convicted.
Harrison is being held in J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond.
Officials say Tyrone Ford, also known as Tyrone Davis, was shot and killed on Friday morning in the 2000 block of Plantation Drive. Another person suffered life-threatening injuries and went to the hospital.
Investigators say Harrison shot the two victims inside a vehicle.
Horry County police went to the Freemont area around 4 a.m. for the reported shooting. When officers arrived, several people were around the vehicle, according to a police report.
The two victims were in the front seats of the car, the report states. Both victims were covered in blood and one of them was unresponsive.
Two witnesses said they were driving on Plantation Drive and one of the victims flagged them down. The witnesses got out of their car, saw the injured people and called the police, according to the report.
In June 2018, Myrtle Beach police arrested Harrison on charges or armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and sale of a gun to a prohibited person. Those charges were dropped in June 2019.
