Myrtle Beach police charge two with murder in connection to North Kings Highway shooting

Two men face a murder charge in connection to a shooting on North Kings Highway.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Deangelo Alston, 31, of Myrtle Beach, and Terry Beaufort, 31, of Kingstree. They could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. They were also charged with distribution of marijuana.

Police say the two were inside the car when Quashaun Bromell, 23, was shot and killed on Dec. 30. Myrtle Beach officers responded to the 100 block of North Kings Highway around 10 p.m. for the shooting.

The two suspects fled the scene after the shooting.

Beaufort was in Myrtle Beach municipal court on Thursday for an initial court appearance. A municipal judge denied bond as only a circuit court judge can set bail on murder charges. Beaufort also said he is on bond for a previous drug trafficking charge, but he expects that case to be dismissed.

Alston has yet to appear in court.

Dane Morton was in the parking lot of the Waffle House on the night of the shooting. He saw a black sedan going north suddenly stop and a woman got out of the car and yelled for someone to call the police.

“The lady comes out screaming, saying her husband was shot,” he said.

Morton was at the restaurant with his mother, Amanda, and his boyfriend Colebry Sniper. When they saw Dane Morton on the phone, the two went to find out why. Sniper, a former boy scout and ROTC member, went to check on the victim who was in the passenger seat of the car.

Sniper said he found a slight pulse on the victim. There was blood on the car’s windshield, and the victim had a gunshot wound to the head. There was also money in the vehicle.

“I was like ‘You OK man?’” Sniper recalled asking. “He was moving his arms. He leaned his head back.”
