‘From the streets and … not telling’: Conway teen charged with stonewalling murder case
An 18-year-old is accused of withholding information in connection to the killing of a man in Conway over the weekend.
Horry County police charged Antonio Daniel Alvarado, of Conway, with accessory after the fact to a homicide, records show. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center late Friday and released on Saturday after posting $20,000 bond.
Investigators say Aarin Jamal “AJ” Michael, 26, got into a fight with Charles Hemingway, 21, on Nov. 29. Officers say the preliminary evidence shows Michael fired at the victim, then fled the scene. Hemingway and Michael knew each other before the incident.
Hemingway was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
According to a police report, when officers arrived, they found Hemingway lying on the floor.
Alvarado met the officers at the door, and he was detained. He told the police, “he was from the streets and was not telling,” according to the report. Alvarado was then placed in a police car.
Officers continue to search for Michael, who is wanted in connection with murder. Michael is 6-foot-4 and weighs 170 pounds. He has a teardrop tattoo under his right eye and several other tattoos on his neck and body.
Anyone with information about Michael’s whereabouts is asked to contact the department at 843-915-5350 or 843-248-1520.
