Horry County Coroner identifies Conway area homicide victim
The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified a 21-year-old as the victim of a homicide on Friday night.
Charles Hemingway was shot and killed at a home in the Conway area, according to Horry County deputy coroner Chris Dontell.
Horry County police officers responded to a report of a shooting near Mayfield Drive around 5 pm.
Investigators say Aarin Jamal “AJ” Michael, 26, got into a fight with Hemingway. Officers say the preliminary evidence shows Michael fired at the victim, then fled the scene. Hemingway and Michael knew each other before the incident.
Officers continue to search for Michael, who is wanted for murder. Michael is 6-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has a teardrop tattoo under his right eye and several other tattoos on his neck and body.
Anyone with information about Michael’s whereabouts is asked to contact the department at 843-915-5350 or 843-248-1520.
