Coroner identifies Myrtle Beach pedestrian who died after being hit by a motorcycle
A Myrtle Beach resident, who was hit by a motorcycle while crossing North Kings Highway, died on Sunday.
Michael Whiteis, 36, attempted to cross the Southbound lanes of North Kings Highway on foot Saturday when a motorcycle struck him, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
Officers with Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the area of 16th Avenue North and North Kings Highway just after 5 p.m. Whiteis was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center with “life-threatening injuries.”
Whiteis later passed away at the hospital on Sunday due to the injuries he sustained from the incident, according to the county coroner.
Myrtle Beach Police are still investigating.
