TV star makes appearance in Horry County as show wraps up filming. Here’s where

Those around the Garden City Pier Sunday night were treated to a show and a celebrity.

The pier was the site for fireworks and the wrap for HGTV’s “Battle on the Beach,” which has been filming in the area since last month.

Ty Pennington, carpenter and longtime host of many HGTV shows, is part of the show and has been spotted on the filming location, as well as other businesses in the Garden City area. Pennington can be seen in Facebook post photos during the pier celebration.

A message left for the pier’s owner was not returned.

The premise of the show is that three teams renovate identical beachfront homes for a chance to win $50,000.

It is not clear when the episodes of the show will air. A spokesperson with HGTV said by email Monday that the premiere date and details will be announced next week.

Not much has been released about the show, including what decorators will be involved. However, the show will be different from the previous season, including new designers and renovators involved, according to a person at the filming location.

The three beachfront homes are located along Atlantic Avenue in Garden City.

While the filming was supposed to be a secret, excitement grew and buzz began on social media last month when banners saying “Battle on the Beach” were hung on dumpsters outside the homes.

The show has been revived after it was announced last year that it would not have a Season 5. Apparently the show was not picked back up by the network. It is unclear what changed that the show is now filming again.
