HGTV filming another beachfront home show along Grand Strand. Here’s where
The Grand Strand will be the setting for another beach home TV show – this one featuring a well-known home renovator.
HGTV’s “Battle on the Beach” has been filming in Garden City this past week, and will continue to film for about another six weeks. The premise of the show is that three teams renovate identical beachfront homes for a chance to win $50,000.
A message left for HGTV was not returned.
Not much is being released about the show, including what decorators will be involved. However, the show will be different from the previous season, including new designers and renovators involved, according to a person at the filming location.
Ty Pennington, carpenter and longtime host of many HGTV shows, is part of the show and has been spotted on the filming location, as well as other businesses in the Garden City area.
Filming, homes supposed to be a secret
The three homes being renovated are managed by Dunes Realty. But the real estate agency is under a “strict non-disclosure agreement” when it comes to details about the homes, their owners or how they were contacted, according to a person at the business.
A person on the filming location said that scouting for the area began in winter, and it was decided to set the new season in the Myrtle Beach area. It is not clear when the episodes will air, but the person said it probably won’t be until next year.
The filming was supposed to be kept a secret, but banners saying “Battle on the Beach” were hung on dumpsters outside the homes over the weekend, letting residents and visitors know about the show. The banners were off the dumpsters as of Wednesday.
Cheap A$ Beach Houses in Myrtle Beach
HGTV was in Myrtle Beach last year for its new series “Cheap A$ Beach Houses,” focusing on finding affordable beachfront properties for buyers with limited budgets. Myrtle Beach was featured as one of the filming locations, with production crews spotted on the beach in September.
Episodes filmed aired in January for the new TV show.
