These new restaurants & shops are debuting at Broadway at the Beach this spring
One of the Grand Strand’s top tourist destinations is expanding with a host of new dining, drinking and shopping options this spring.
Several boutiques and eateries are debuting at Broadway at the Beach, and some are already open. Here’s what’s coming.
New dining and drinks
Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing Co.
Patrons interested in more grown-up drinks can find artisanal beer and moonshine at the combined Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing Co. location later this spring. The shared space will feature a beer garden, distillery, guided tours and event spaces.
Ole Smoky Distillery, offers premium moonshine at four locations. The Myrtle Beach space marks the company’s first foray outside of Tenessee. Yee-Haw Brewing Co. serves up craft beer at four taprooms, including three in Tennessee and one in Greenville.
“This vacation destination’s passion for great beverages and world class entertainment makes it the perfect place for us to share our traditions and craft,” Ole Smoky Distillery and Yee-Haw Brewing founder Joe Baker said in a release. “We look forward to offering an experience that’s as rich and distinctive as our beer and spirits.”
The Cloak and Dagger
People of all ages can customize and drink fantastical “potions” at The Cloak and Wand. Set to open in late May or early June, the non-alcoholic drink spot offers a host of unique soda and hot chocolate options.
The fantasy shop has two other locations in Mystic, Connecticut, and New Hope, Pennsylvania. Beyond sweet drinks, shoppers can also buy wands and adopt magical creatures.
“When you go, you feel like you’re being transported into a fantasy world,” said parent company Wonderlosity’s CEO and founder, Ellie Greenberg.
Big Fish
A new seafood restaurant is slated to open in Broadway at the Beach’s New England Fishing Village area later in the spring.
Early details are sparse, but an announcement from Broadway at the Beach promises Big Fish will serve fresh seafood and specialty menu items with a large outdoor seating space overlooking Lake Broadway.
New shops and attractions
The Slime Kitchen
Visitors can cook up creations that aren’t meant to be eaten at The Slime Kitchen. The California-based franchise has nearly 20 locations across the country. The Myrtle Beach store in Broadway at the Beach’s Charleston Boardwalk area marks the first shop in South Carolina.
The recently-opened attraction lets patrons customize their personalized slime’s color, scent and texture in a 10-step process. Customers combine ingredients in a KitchenAid mixture to create their perfect, non-toxic slime.
Sand Cloud
San Diego-based beach store Sand Cloud is known for its sand-resistant Turkish cotton towels. Its new shop in the Key West Village at Broadway at the Beach is the company’s third flagship location and first outside California.
In addition to specialty towels, Sand Cloud offers an array of bedding and apparel. The company donates 10% of profits to protecting oceans and marine life through nonprofits like Coral Restoration Foundation, Global Penguin Society and Hawaii Wildlife Fund.
Alice’s Haunted Little Bookshop
Fans of all things gothic, curious and dark can explore Alice’s Haunted Little Bookshop, which is set to open in May. The Victorian Era-inspired store features strange and forgotten books, unusual gifts, interactive portraits and an Edgar Allen Poe figure welcoming visitors to the shop.
Like The Cloak and Wand, Alice’s Haunted Little Bookshop is a Wonderlosity venture. CEO Greenberg said shoppers can expect books from Agatha Christie, Stephen King, Shakespeare and, of course, Poe.
“(There are also) authors you’ve never heard about,” said Greenberg. Visitors can expect books focusing on mystery, murder and mayhem from around the world.
Grumpy Gatorz
Recently opened across from Margaritaville at Heroes Harbor, Grumpy Gatorz is a gift shop featuring all things beachy.
Before coming to Myrtle Beach, Grumpy Gatorz opened a location in Pawleys Island offering decor, apparel and gifts with a sweets counter serving up ice cream and fudge. The new gift shop features beach-inspired clothes and souvenirs at Broadway at the Beach.
Duckmania
Visitors won’t be shocked at the contents of a new store coming to Broadway at the Beach. Duckmania will feature rubber duck items for those who enjoy baths, Jeeps and duckie toys.
According to Broadway at the Beach, the shop will open in the coming weeks.
Imagination
Adding to Broadway at the Beach’s educational entertainment lineup, Imagination is a new store offering educational gifts, games and toys.
Like Duckmania, Imagination is slated to open in the coming weeks.
