Netflix to again film ‘Outer Banks’ scene in Myrtle Beach area. Where to watch
Bad weather forced Netflix to cancel its filming of the hit drama “Outer Banks” three times this year in the Myrtle Beach area.
Now production crews will try a fourth time this week to shoot a scene for the show’s finale.
Filming is set to take place on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, on the Socastee Swing Bridge, according to South Carolina Film Commissioner Matt Storm. The filming will cause Dick Pond Road and the bridge to be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during that time, Storm said.
Those hoping to watch the filming can do so from the Swing Bridge Park off of Highway 544, Storm said. At the July 29 shoot, actors Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, who star as John B. Routledge and Sarah Cameron, were seen running on the bridge. Dozens of people came out, despite the weather, to catch a glimpse of the stars and see the filming.
Filming ‘Outer Banks’ in South Carolina
The popular TV drama has attempted to film in the Myrtle Beach area before, the last time in September, before being forced to cancel because of weather.
Some of the scene has been filmed, Storm said. However, the crew is returning to the bridge to attempt to finish the scene.
Despite the show’s North Carolina name, much of the “Outer Banks” shooting has been in South Carolina. The show first started filming on the Socastee Swing Bridge on July 29, but when thunderstorms hit the area, production had to shutter for the day. The cast and crew was set to return to Horry County to film on Aug. 14, but inclement weather forced another cancellation.
Filming could impact boat traffic. Previous filming days delayed water traffic on the Intracoastal waterway.
Now in production for its fifth and final season, “Outer Banks” follows the pogues, a group of working-class friends hunting for treasure.
