Netflix show ‘Outer Banks’ to film in Myrtle Beach area, shut down traffic. Here’s when, where
After bad weather forced production to cancel filming — twice — Netflix’s hit drama “Outer Banks” is set to return to the Myrtle Beach area later this month to shoot a scene for the show’s finale.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, the “Outer Banks” filming crew will shut down traffic on the Socastee Swing Bridge and part of Dick Pond Road from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Despite the show’s North Carolina name, much of the “Outer Banks” shooting has been in South Carolina.
The show first started filming on the Socastee Swing Bridge on July 29, but when thunderstorms hit the area, production had to shutter for the day. The cast and crew was set to return to Horry County to film on Aug. 14, but inclement weather forced another cancelation.
Filming could also impact boat traffic. According to South Carolina Film Commission Director Matt Storm, Horry County Police’s Marine Division may delay water traffic while filming. U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Catherine Lawson will communicate advance notices of planned disruptions to the bridge schedule, Storm said.
Now in production for its fifth and final season, “Outer Banks” follows the pogues, a group of working-class friends hunting for treasure.
Actors Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, who star as John B. Routledge and Sarah Cameron, were seen running on the bridge during the July 29 shoot. Previous production brought dozens of fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the action out to Swing Bridge Park.
