The old Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort along North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach has been closed for almost a year under new ownership.
They just announced that the former 250 room resort is now accepting room reservations for this summer, starting on June 1, 2025.
The old resort was previously acquired by a California-based private equity firm, Hybridge Capital Management.
The Shelby Myrtle Beach will feature amenities including 242 rooms, direct beach access, a resort-style outdoor pool and lazy river, fitness center and two restaurants, according to a release.
There is also a package that offers free breakfast.
The renovations cost approximately $54 million, communications manager for Fahlgren Mortine Kyle Staten, said.
Rooms in the summer will start at $229 a night, with off-season rates in September through year end starting at $139 a night, according to Staten.
The restaurants include an all-day option, The Palm & Pebble, and a tiki-style cocktail bar with light bites on the menu, The Shelby Beach Club.
Next year, the property plans to open The Shelby Pickleball Club, which has 10 pickleball courts and a two-story restaurant.
The renovations for the old resort were first announced last summer by The Shelby’s parent company, voco.
voco is part of the IHG hotel family, which also owns Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Express and Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, among others. They currently operate 16 other voco hotels in North America.
Hybridge Capital also previously acquired The Yachtsman in Myrtle Beach, their portfolio said.
