The Palmetto State has many attractive qualities, drawing new businesses and residents to it.

Warm weather, beaches and many other qualities bring people to South Carolina, and one premium hotel brand wants to add its first South Carolina location.

Voco will open its first South Carolina in Myrtle Beach, according to an announcement by Hybridge Capital Management —the owner of the future Voco property. The hotel will be in the location of the former Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort at the Pavilion at 1802 North Ocean Blvd., which currently has close to 250 rooms.

The Voco brand is relatively new in the world of hotels. Launched in 2018, the brand has 64 hotels in Europe, Asia and Africa with more than 16,000 rooms. Voco also has locations in New York, Florida, Chicago and New Orleans. According to the company’s website, Voco focuses on easy-going aesthetics and an inviting experience.

Voco hotels are typically located in downtown or notable locations, as the brand includes locations in Times Square or on a man-made island on the Persian Gulf in Dubai.

IHG Hotels & Resorts owns Voco, which also runs Holiday Inn. IHG has five brand categories, the most notable being its Luxury and Lifestyle Collection, followed by the Premium Collection.

Indeed, IHG added a new location, the Grand Strand, in 2024. Holiday Inn Club Vacations, a suite brand focused on giving visitors more space, opened along the Myrtle Beach waterfront in January 2024, with more than 152 rooms available.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations is part of IHG’s Suite Collection.
