“When it’s gone, it’s gone!” is the message you’ll hear if you call Big Lots’ Myrtle Beach store. And as the message suggests, the store will soon leave the Grand Strand for good.

Big Lots at 1370 South Kings Highway will shut its doors permanently— a yellow banner with the word ‘closing’ hung above the entrance. When The Sun News called the store, an employee said the store’s last day will be March 16, 2025.

This isn’t the first Big Lots location along the Grand Strand to place a similar sign in front of the store. Both the North Myrtle Beach and Conway shops announced their closures. The Conway location also held a fire sale for its remaining inventory in concert with closing.

The closings come as the Big Lots brand deals with ongoing business problems. The brand announced in 2024 that it planned to close dozens of stores, and the company filed for bankruptcy in preparation for being bought. In January 2025, Gordon Brothers Retail Partners bought the beleaguered brand with Variety Wholesalers, Inc. obtaining between 200 and 400 Big Lots stores.

It’s unknown if the Grand Strand locations were part of these transactions.
