A Wisconsin search and rescue team has announced that it is ending search efforts for missing boater Tyler Doyle.
Wings of Hope Search and Rescue announced in a Facebook post Monday evening that it “had to make the hardest decisions in search and rescue.”
“My heart goes out to Tyler Doyle’s wife and family,” the post said. “I would like to thank the DNR and sheriff department for providing us with support through out this difficult search.”
Wings of Hope, of Medford, joined the search for Doyle Feb. 7. The nonprofit group used boats equipped with underwater sonar and 3D imaging, cadaver dogs and drone to aid in the search of Doyle, who went missing Jan. 26 after duck hunting in a 16-foot jon boat near a Little River jetty. His boat sank after taking on water.
Multiple agencies have participated in the search for Doyle, which has been led by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
The U.S. Civil Air Patrol joined the search last week, and Brunswick County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office has continued searching beaches, according to the SCDNR. Family and friends have also continued searching.
The SCDNR has said it will continue its daily searches until the Loris man is found and that no foul play is suspected.
A window of good weather is expected for the search by boat Tuesday, according to a Twitter update from the SCDNR posted Tuesday morning.
Boats had good conditions at sea Monday; however, the Civil Air Patrol was unable to fly Monday because of cloud cover, according to the post. A family boat did conduct a live sonar, the post said.
The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Jan. 27 and the North Myrtle Beach Rescue squad ended their daily searches Feb. 4.
The missing boater has gotten the attention of thousands of people nationwide as the search for him continues.
