Your Myrtle Beach Publix trips will be more interesting with new restaurants and businesses opening nearby soon.

Since the grocery store’s opening near Market Common and Socastee in late November 2022, a variety of businesses have opened in the shopping center. These include Marco’s Pizza, Smoothie King and Waxing the City.

And there are six new businesses on the way.

“We’re trying to put together a first class shopping center,” said Trey Lucy, principal of Belk Lucy, the Charleston-based real estate brokerage managing rentals in the plaza.

Coventry Marketplace is located off of Highway 17 Bypass and close to rapidly developing residential areas such as the Belle Harbor subdivision and Sayebrook.

Belk Lucy estimated that 5,100 homes will be built within 3 miles of Coventry Marketplace. This adds to the over 42,000 people already living in that area.

Here are the six businesses scheduled to open in Coventry Marketplace in the coming months.

Starting in early March, those looking to get more flexible can go to Stretch Zone’s new Coventry Marketplace studio, according to Trey Samuel, General Manager of the North Myrtle Beach location. Trainers practice assisted stretching, aimed to improve mobility. This will be Stretch Zone’s third Myrtle Beach-area location.

Ultra Lux Nail Spa and Beyond

Grocery shoppers will be able to hop over for a manicure at Ultra Lux Nail Spa and Beyond, which is planned to open in mid-March. The salon will offer pedicures, nails, waxing and eyelashes.

Owner Thu Tran, a Market Common resident herself, was excited to bring her business to the growing residential area.

“We love Market Common, it’s in the middle of everywhere.” Tran said.

Scheduled to open in early April, Wings Co. will serve chicken with 13 sauces, alongside gyros and falafel. Owner Ahmed Abdelhalim was attracted to Coventry Marketplace because of the growing population in the Market Common area.

“We see Publix here too, so a lot of people love it. So we said we’re gonna give this a shot here, and I think we’re gonna do really well here,” Abdelhalim said.

This will be the fifth location of the Myrtle Beach-based chain, joining a restaurant in the Coastal Grande Mall and one in Pawleys Island set to open mid-March.

Super Cuts

Super Cuts anticipates opening in late April or May, Lucy said. This will be the hair salon chain’s fourth Myrtle Beach area location, joining spots in Carolina Forest, Barefoot Landing and North Myrtle Beach.

South Carolina Federal Credit Union

The first Horry County location of South Carolina Federal Credit Union is scheduled to open in June. Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Maggie Wickey, said the credit union appreciated the visibility from Highway 17 Bypass.

“Having Publix as the anchor tenant certainly gives us confidence that it will be a well-trafficked shopping center,” Wickey said.

The location will include both a drive-thru and lobby.

Refuel

Construction on Refuel Gas Station is scheduled to begin over the summer, with a tentative opening date in the first part of 2024, Lucy said. The gas station will be located on the north-west corner of Coventry Marketplace, right off of Highway 17 Bypass.

In the next two weeks, Lucy hopes to announce a new restaurant going into the corner suite next to Marco’s Pizza.
