Cold front, rain, storms: What forecasters say is in store for Myrtle Beach this weekend

Rain and thunderstorms are possible through the weekend in Myrtle Beach, forecasters say.

A slight chance of showers could roll into the area Friday evening, with the highest chances of rainfall Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Forecasters are calling for a partly cloudy day Saturday, with scattered showers possible overnight and into Sunday.

The NWS Wilmington said rainfall amounts up to a quarter of an inch are possible Sunday. Chances of scattered rain are possible into next week, forecasters say.

Temperatures this week have been around 70, but highs will drop over the weekend to around 60 degrees due to a weak cold front that will move across the region late Friday. Low temperatures in Myrtle Beach are expected to be in the mid 50s, with Sunday night around 47, the NWS reports.
