Green beer, live music, 5K: Here are St. Patrick’s Day events on the Grand Strand

How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

Whether it is with a 5K, a pint of green beer or wearing green so you avoid getting pinched, there are several events in the Myrtle Beach area to celebrate the big Irish holiday.

Here is a list of Grand Strand festivities from North Myrtle Beach to the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet:

First up is the Shamrock 5K at Market Common, which begins 8 a.m. March 14 ahead of a 1-mile fun run at 9:15 a.m. Here’s where runners can register.

After the race, folks can enjoy the the 10th Annual Irish Fest at Grand Park at Market Common. The festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with craft beer, food, live music, a kids zone and vendors.

Ahead of St. Patrick’s Day is St. Practice Day on March 7 at Tin Roof. The Ocean Boulevard rooftop bar will start celebrating at 5 p.m. The following weekend, the bar will host Shamrocks and Shenanigans beginning at 9:30 p.m. March 14. The bar plans to serve green beer and have live music from Thomas Road on St. Patrick’s Day.

A party on The Avenue at Broadway at the Beach kicks off at 3 p.m. March 17 with green beer and live music from Kevin Nichols Band. Festivities last until 7 p.m. Just nearby, Margaritaville will celebrate with drink specials and 17 percent off all green merchandise on St. Patrick’s Day.

Last but not least, Luck of the MarshWalk begins 5 p.m. March 17 in Murrells Inlet, with drink specials, Irish dishes, live music and a costume contest.

Update: The North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day parade has been canceled.
