Cook Out could open a location in Carolina Forest. Here’s what we know

Carolina Forest residents have probably heard a persistent claim: a Cook Out is coming to International Drive. Well hope of the chain coming is still alive.

In 2016, WPDE News reported a Cook Out could come to Carolina Forest, but the property sat empty for years. While few details are still readily available, Cook Out bought property near the Lowes Food store last year.

Cook Out, based in Thomasville, North Carolina, is popular across the Southeast for its burgers, milkshakes and inexpensive tray combo deals that let you order two chicken wraps as side options. It brands itself as the “best combo in town.”

Representatives for Cook Out did not respond to a request for comment, but the property owner’s address is the same as the chain’s corporate headquarters in Thomasville.

As of now, no permits have been filed to begin construction, according to Horry County property records. The land itself is zoned highway commercial which allows for a fast food chain to open.

The land is located on Fresh Drive and costs $750,000.
