Here’s how you can see your favorite boy wizard on the big screen in Myrtle Beach
A Myrtle Beach movie theater will feature Harry Potter and his fearless troupe of magical friends on the big screen next year.
Nearly 20 years after Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone launched the eight-part movie series into a worldwide phenomenon, Harry Potter will make his return to the big screen at Stone Theaters Grand 14 at Market Common as part of its Flashback Cinema series.
While the first film already played in November, the theater will continue the series featuring one movie a month on Sundays and Wednesdays through July.
Here’s when you can see the wizarding world of Harry Potter:
Jan. 19 & 22: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) Rated PG
An ancient prophecy is haunting the corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends return to school for their second year. While Harry and his classmates experience new adventures and are introduced to a questionable new professor (Kenneth Branagh), Harry begins hearing a voice in the walls as a mysterious presence leaves muggle-born victims paralyzed.
Feb. 16 & 19: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) Rated PG
As Harry returns to school for his third year, he learns that convicted murderer, Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), has escaped from the wizard prison Azkaban and is coming after him to avenge Lord Voldemort. A swarm of nasty dementors are sent to protect the school, but instead begin to put Harry’s life in peril. Friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) help Harry defend himself, as a new professor enlightens Harry to his past and future.
March 15 & 18: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) PG-13
Harry Potter finds himself competing in the Triwizard Tournament, a dangerous event between rival schools of magic for older students, after his name is mysteriously chosen to participate. While too young to join, the magic that chose him can’t be reversed and classmates, including best friend Ron, begin to turn on Harry thinking he’s a cheat. While Harry is forced to wittingly survive each challenge, a face-off with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) will be his greatest challenge.
Apr. 5 & 8: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) PG-13
Haunted by the return of Lord Voldemort, Harry returns to school realizing that much of the wizarding world, including the Ministry of Magic, are in denial about the dark lord’s return. This skepticism, and the addition of a wicked professor, results in Harry organizing a group of students to fend off Voldemort and his followers through an array of magic.
May 17 & 20: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) Rated PG
Love is in the air at Hogwarts, but it doesn’t last long as Harry Potter suspects threats of Voldemort and other dangers lurking within the halls. With Voldemort’s army growing and wreaking havoc in both the muggle and wizard worlds, Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) trains Harry for battle while teaching him more about Voldemort’s dark past, leading the pair to discovering the very thing that could destroy the dark lord.
June 14 & 17: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) Rated PG-13
Nowhere is safe with Voldemort’s power growing stronger after taking control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. With dark forces searching for Harry Potter, it’s a race against time for the trio of friends as they begin their mission to find and destroy the horcruxes, the source to Voldemort’s immortality. While their friendship is tested, they uncover the existence of the most power object in the wizarding world.
June 28 & July 1: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) Rated PG-13
The series’ final chapter finds Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron searching for the remaining horcruxes in their quest to destroy Voldemort as the lives of their friends and family continue to remain in jeopardy. With the last horcrux at Hogwarts, Voldemort and his followers attempt to derail their mission leading to a fatal battle that pits good against evil.
