Changes coming to Coastal Grand Mall: Dick’s is moving, trampoline park is being added

Get ready to jump around in Myrtle Beach because the arrival of a bounce house is among major changes coming to Coastal Grand Mall in 2020.

Flip N Fly, a trampoline park, will be opening a location inside the mall where Dick’s Sporting Goods is currently located, according to a news release from Chattanooga-based CBL Properties, owners of the mall.

The Dick’s Sporting Goods will move into a new building with Golf Galaxy near the Dillards. So far, there is not an exact timeline for when this new building will be completed as building permits have not been filed for the project.

“We are excited to announce another redevelopment project that further illustrates our commitment to diversifying and enhancing the offerings at our properties,” said Stephen Lebovitz, chief executive officer of CBL Properties, in a prepared statement. “We are successfully executing our redevelopment strategy of adding new, in-demand retail and other uses to enhance the customer experience, including over 850,000 square feet of new-to-market entertainment offerings across over a dozen properties.”

Construction of the dual Dick’s Sporting Goods/Golf Galaxy complex is expected to begin in early 2020, CBL said. The owners did not provide opening dates for that property or Flip N Fly.

Flip N Fly Myrtle Beach

Flip N Fly Myrtle Beach will be the business’ second location as the first opened in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 2018, according to the Port City Daily. The Myrtle Beach location will be 53,000 square feet, Flip N Fly Myrtle Beach said on Facebook, which is bigger than the original 28,000-square-feet site.

The website advertises wall-to-wall trampolines using the safest shock spring technology system. Its Facebook page says the Myrtle Beach site will include trampolines, a ninja course, a sky rail coaster and more.

“The addition of Flip N Fly is a perfect fit for this popular tourist market and will solidify Coastal Grand as a family entertainment destination,” Lebovitz said in a prepared statement.

Dick’s/Golf Galaxy

The construction for a Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods dual-sports complex has begun.

With plans calling for an 80,497-square-foot addition, areas of the site have been gated off and were populated with construction crews last month.

A utilities and site work permit was granted last month to allow for the beginning of construction, but contractors are only permitted to begin the ground work, which includes clearing, grading and underground utilities, according to Myrtle Beach Plans Expediter Laura Thomas.

Thomas said a building permit has not been issued.
