Coronavirus live updates June 13: Horry County sees more than 100 new cases in a day
For the first time, Horry County surpassed 100 new coronavirus cases in a day and more than a 1,000 total cases, according to the latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The Myrtle Beach area had 101 new cases as of Saturday, bringing the county’s total to 1,037 since mid-March. Horry County’s total deaths increased to 34. One new Horry County death, in a middle-aged person, was announced on Saturday.
In Georgetown County, there have been 150 confirmed cases and 3 deaths, according to DHEC.
Cases across South Carolina rose by 770 on Saturday, bringing totals to 17,955 with nearly 600 COVID-19 deaths. South Carolina has an 80 percent recovery rate.

Three COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Horry County this week. The highest amount of deaths reported in one week was six between June 1-7.
