Coronavirus live updates June 12: Horry County sets new record in daily case count
The Myrtle Beach area added another 87 cases to its total coronavirus count on Friday.
Horry County now has 936 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in mid-March, according to S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control data released on Friday. There have been 33 virus-related deaths in Horry County.

Last week, there were more than 180 cases of the coronavirus announced in Horry County. This week’s cases have already climbed higher than last with 319 of Friday afternoon.
Two COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Horry County this week. The highest amount of deaths reported in one week was six between June 1-7.
In Georgetown County, cases have risen to 132, with 3 deaths, DHEC reports.
Cases across South Carolina have climbed past 17,170, according to DHEC, and 593 virus deaths have been reported. The state has done more than 230,000 molecular tests for COVID since the start of the outbreak, with more than 22,700 positive tests.
South Carolina has an 80 percent recovery rate.
