Fewer Horry County residents filed unemployment claims in the last week, according to the latest information released by the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.
More than 2,500 county residents filed for unemployment benefits in the week ending May 8 as more businesses are reopening.
Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area May 14.
Cases in Horry County have reached 273 as of Thursday, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The county’s first cases were mid-March. There have been 18 coronavirus related deaths in Horry County, DHEC reports.
There have been 51 cases in Georgetown County and three deaths, according to DHEC.
South Carolina cases of the virus have climbed just over 8,000, with 362 deaths, DHEC reports.
