Coronavirus live updates for April 14: Here’s the latest in the Myrtle Beach area

Area leaders met Tuesday morning to discuss the latest on the coronavirus, or COVID-19, across Horry County as the number of cases increase daily.

In a City of Myrtle Beach meeting, Horry-Georgetown Technical College President Marilyn Fore said three students have the coronavirus, though it is unclear when they were diagnosed, and they are receiving emotional support from HGTC staff.

Horry County officials discussed in a press conference Tuesday morning when restrictions might end. Officials say the virus could peak at the end of April or beginning of May. Here’s are the latest updates from the county.

Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area for April 14.

There are at least 147 positive cases of the coronavirus in Horry County, though health officials say there could be more than 900 total possible cases, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s online data map. Health officials are reporting seven coronavirus-related deaths in Horry County.

Georgetown County has at least 31 positive cases, with one death, as of Tuesday morning, according to DHEC.

Cases of the coronavirus in South Carolina have climbed to at least 3,439, with 87 deaths reported, DHEC reports.
