Latest coronavirus data: Myrtle Beach, Horry County see more confirmed cases

The Myrtle Beach area continues to see an increase in coronavirus cases, according to state officials.

There are now 147 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Horry County, according to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control data released on Monday evening.

The figure is up from the 134 cases that were confirmed on Sunday. The zip code 29527, which is the area west of Conway, has the most confirmed cases in the county with 21.

Officials estimated there are 1,050 either confirmed or suspects coronavirus cases across Horry County.

There have also been seven deaths in Horry County from coronavirus. On Monday, Horry County Schools confirmed one death was a bus driver for the district.

South Carolina has more than 3,439 confirmed cases and 87 deaths from COVID-19. Health officials continue to stress the importance of handwashing and social distancing to help stop the disease’s spread. Projections show South Carolina to reach its peak of coronavirus in late April or early May.
