Coronavirus updates for April 5: Myrtle Beach area cases grow, as gator takes a stroll

The number of coronavirus cases in the Myrtle Beach area continues to rise as the virus has forced many to hunker down for the weekend instead of heading out for normal activities.

But, not every creature is staying inside...

Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area for April 5.

There are now 64 positive coronavirus cases in Horry County, including five deaths, according to latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. That is up from 51 positive cases as of Friday.

In South Carolina there are more than 2,000 positive cases and 44 deaths.

Today’s takeaways:

Wash your hands & a smile

Here’s your daily reminder to wash your hands. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends you wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Health officials also urge people to practice social distancing.

While many people are staying inside, nature has started to reclaim some of the Grand Strand’s popular tourist attractions.
