Latest coronavirus data: Horry County, Myrtle Beach see another COVID-19 death

Horry County saw another death from coronavirus, according to state health officials.

There are now five deaths in Horry County from COVID-19, according to the latest figures released by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control on Sunday. The person was elderly with underlying health conditions.

There are now 64 cases in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. That is up from 63 cases on Saturday and 51 on Friday.

In South Carolina, there are now more than 2,049 positive coronavirus cases and 44 deaths.

Health officials continue to stress the importance of handwashing and social distancing to help slow the outbreak.

Myrtle Beach area residents continue to see the impacts of decisions made to slow the spread. On Monday, several types of businesses will be forced to close because of the disease.
