Panera Bread to open second Myrtle Beach area location
A second Panera Bread location will open in the Myrtle Beach area this fall at a new shopping strip under construction at the intersection of U.S. 17 Bypass and S.C. 544.
The commercial strip under development by Burroughs & Chapin Co. Inc. will also include a MOD Pizza and EyeMart Express.
“The Myrtle Beach market is growing steadily, and we continue to focus on bringing in new and innovative businesses,” said Patrick Walsh, senior vice president of asset management and commercial leasing with B&C.
“We're thrilled to partner with successful brands like Panera Bread, MOD Pizza, and EyeMart Express, which have set the standard for quality and value in the fast casual restaurant and optical industries,” Walsh said.
The Sun News reported Dec. 9 that Panera Bread planned to open its first bakery cafe in the Myrtle Beach area in a building that will be constructed next to Starbucks Coffee on U.S. 501 in the Carolina Forest Commons.
B&C said the Panera off S.C. 544 is expected to open by this fall. Panera Bread officials did not return requests for comment on either location or the expected opening dates.
Panera Bread has become a popular social hangout where patrons are just as likely to be working on their laptop computers and munching cranberry orange muffins, while patrons file through for a breakfast bacon, egg and cheese ciabatta or a bowl of turkey chili.
The company has developed a reputation for using high-quality ingredients shunning artificial trans fat and MSG, and serves antibiotic-free meats.
MOD Pizza will open its location at S.C. 544 and U.S. 17 Bypass in October, while another new location at 1400 U.S. 17 Business in North Myrtle Beach will open in April, and a Carolina Forest location on U.S. 501 and West Perry Road will open in July.
