Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts adding more Myrtle Beach area locations
More sugary deep-fried goodness is coming to the Myrtle Beach area soon with the expected addition of two new doughnut shops on U.S. 501 and S.C. 544.
The former Myrtle Beach visitor center across from the Tanger Outlet on U.S. 501 will be knocked down to make way for a new Krispy Kreme shop, according to plans submitted to Horry County.
David Schwerd, principal planner for Horry County, said construction is expected to begin in early spring. There are already three Krispy Kreme shops operating in the Myrtle Beach area.
The opening of a new Dunkin’ Donuts location near the intersection of S.C. 544 and Singleton Ridge Road would bring the total number of this chain’s shops to an even dozen in the Myrtle Beach area.
A company spokesperson could not be reached for comment to determine when construction will begin on the new Dunkin’ Donuts shop or the proposed opening date.
Schwerd said Dunkin’ Donuts has obtained a variance to construct the new building near the existing McDonald’s, but the formal site plan has not been submitted.
