New Italian deli in North Myrtle Beach to feature imported meats, house-made cheesecake
Nick Sarabella has been like a DJ recently. He’s been taking requests.
Acquaintances that know he’s about to open an Italian deli in North Myrtle Beach have been giving him lists of specific hard-to-find Italian foods that they want him to stock and sell.
“We’re going to try to accommodate everybody that’s been asking me,” Sarabella said. “Every day somebody gives me a list, like, ‘My husband asked if you can get this.’ “
Sarabella hopes to open Sarabella’s Italian Deli in the Shops on Main by Christmas, but he’s awaiting the delivery of some equipment.
His sandwiches will feature a variety of Boar’s Head cold cuts, Italian cold cuts like mortadella and prosciutto, and numerous imported cheeses.
Sarabella’s will bake its own fresh Italian breads and rolls for the sandwiches, and other types of breads will be available.
The restaurant will have house-made salads, and Sarabella’s wife, Sherry, will be making cheesecake, which he said is already being made at their home and is in high demand. Types of cheesecake include New York, ricotta and Italian, which is a lighter version.
Baked products brought in from New York and New Jersey will include a number of pastries including Italian cookies with jelly filling, cannolis, spuyadels and sfogliatella.
“The water’s different here. You’re not going to get that taste you’re looking for,” Sarabella said of the pastries.
Sarabella’s will be open for breakfast and will feature breakfast sandwiches with eggs, cheese and meats including ham, sausage and bacon on rolls, bagels or other break products.
It will also be a coffee shop serving espressos and cappuccinos.
Sarabella’s will have some products available for retail sale, including imported pastas, sauces, olives and olive oils.
“There’s a lot of other things we’ll be bringing in, I just need to see how much room we’ll have,” Sarabella said.
The business will be a family affair with Sarabella’s two daughters, Ashley and Jacklyn, managing it in addition to their parents’ contributions.
He hopes to soon open a second restaurant with a similar theme off S.C. 9 near S.C. 905 in Longs. “There’s no place out there,” Sarabella said.
