Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is one step closer to opening a Myrtle Beach restaurant as the company seeks city approval to build a new location.

At the Myrtle Beach Community Appearance Board Thursday, Greenville-based engineering firm Freeland and Kauffman will request a building permit for a new restaurant, parking lot and landscaping at 960 Jason Blvd.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Raising Cane’s had not responded to a request for comment from The Sun News, but in December, a representative told the news outlet that the company was “actively exploring opportunities in the area.”

With more than 900 restaurants across the United States, Raising Cane’s is the third-largest chicken restaurant chain in the nation, according to CNBC. For Grand Strand fans craving the chain’s chicken fingers and signature sauce, the closest existing location is 90 miles from Myrtle Beach in Mount Pleasant.
