▪ Mammy’s Kitchen, the well-known breakfast buffet in Myrtle Beach, will open for the season on February 12 this year. Mammy’s Kitchen has been around in their 1010 North Kings Highway location since the 1950s and remains a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to grab some delicious breakfast. The buffet has great options like eggs, French toast, biscuits, sausage, and much more, but Mammy’s also provides a full menu.

The restaurant will be open for breakfast Friday through Sunday each week, from 7a.m. until noon. Guests can easily reach Mammy’s at 843-448-7242, or their website at mammyskitchen.com to learn more about this longstanding eatery. The calendar provided on their website is especially useful, and their social network will help fans stay updated at facebook.com/mammys-kitchen.

▪ Bully’s Pub near Barefoot Landing was closed for roughly two weeks recently, but they welcomed guests once again at the beginning of the month. During the time Bully’s was closed, they worked hard on renovating and repairing the popular bar.

Now fans can enjoy their favorite pub with new flooring and a refinished bar. There were a few hiccups in the process, as updates from their page, facebook.com/bullys.pub, indicated. Guests have been supportive of them during this time, and with the new look, they should be more popular than ever.

Bully’s Pub is open daily from noon to 2 in the morning, with Happy Hour from 4p.m. to 7p.m. as per the usual. To talk to one of the employees, give them a ring at 843-272-4123.

▪  The training of new employees is well underway at the new Checkers (also can be called Rally’s) in Surfside, and they plan to open this week. Construction began in the fall of last year at the first Grand Strand location at 1900 South Kings Highway, next to the Palmetto Plaza shopping center.

This drive-in restaurant is known not only for their burgers and fries, but their wings and milkshakes as well. Most locations remain a double drive thru, and it looks like the Surfside site will follow that tradition, with little seating. Before this, the closest Checkers locations were in Florence and Wilmington.

At the moment, the Surfside Checkers is still not on the map at checkers.com, so their phone number and hours are not published. Check back for updates or follow any of their social network accounts, such as Facebook or Twitter, under the name Checkers and Rallys. If this new restaurant is anything like the Florence spots, they may well open mid-morning and close after midnight for those late-night cravings.

▪  Dick Divitz Tap Room intends to open soon, bringing a new addition to the Big Block Junction on Highway 544. This restaurant replaced the Tally Ho Bar right on the end of the strip, and is still finishing up some remodeling. Their physical location is 3901 Dick Pond Road, and the new bar has yet to set up on online presence.
