THE LOWDOWN

Country fans, listen up ... you’ll hear country music nightly at Country Roads Bar & Grill. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

Country Roads Bar & Grill is located at Broadway at the Beach in the space that used to house Rodeo Bar & Grill, and before that, Blarney Stones Irish Pub & Martini Bar. Country Roads is the newest addition to Celebrations Nitelife, which has five clubs in Celebrity Square including Malibu’s Surf Bar, Club Boca, Froggy Bottomz Live and Broadway Louie.

The establishment is large. It has a couple of bars: one in the back of the main room, and another in the front, which serves both the inside patrons as well as those sitting on the outdoor covered patio. The interior is mostly wood, from the bars to the tables to the big brown barrels you’ll find throughout the joint. There are a number of tables for people to sit and eat, or drink, or both. You’ll find darts and Golden Tee, and a bunch of TVs.

There’s a dance floor that gains a crowd in the evening hours. At Country Roads Bar & Grill it’s all about country music. The bar often hosts live music including regional and national acts. You can learn to line dance on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Line dancing lessons start at 8:30 p.m. On Wednesdays nights you can play Trivia.

Country Roads carries more than 20 craft beers on draft and in bottles. During happy hour, which runs from 4 to 8 p.m. daily, you can get draft beers and craft beers for $3.50. You can also snag half-off select appetizers.
